23 Things 2.0 – RSS Feeds

During the day, you visit blogs, news sources, and other websites that deliver information regularly. It can be time-consuming to visit those sites.

With an RSS Feed and a Bloglines account (article in November Jag Stacks), you can keep up with those sites in one spot. Begin by visiting your favorite sites and look for the RSS symbol (orange).

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication; it provides a format for you to add a site into your Bloglines account.

Example: Education Week

Look for an RSS Symbol on the site.

Once you see the symbol, click on it to reveal the process of adding to your Bloglines account.

Follow the directions – each site has a different way of adding the feed into the Bloglines account.

For Education Week, you click on the Bloglines button & it will add to your created Bloglines account.

The librarians would be glad to help you set up a Bloglines account! Let us know!

23 Things 2.0: Bloglines

What if you could keep track of newspapers, magazines, favorite web sites, and calendars all in one place?

You can! AND you can view all of these at the same time!!
With a bloglines account, you can keep up-to-date with your various online sources!

Bloglines is a free newsreader. By setting up an account, you can tell bloglines which sites you want to see.

For example, subscribe to the New York Times through bloglines and receive recent articles.

Go to the library newsletter online for a step-by-step tutorial and to visit Becca’s bloglines account as an example.
